Background and Objectives
This diploma programme is designed to address the growing demand for nutrition professionals who can guide individuals toward healthier lifestyles and prevent/manage diseases through dietary intervention. This Afro-Brit course in Nutrition and Dietetics reflects an integrative approach combining biology, diet planning, therapeutic nutrition, and public health. The diploma programme aims to:
- Train individuals in the science of human nutrition and dietetics.
- Equip them to assess nutritional requirements and design meal plans.
- Foster understanding of food science, nutrient functions, and disease-diet relationships.
Programme Structure
This 10-module programme will encompass Human Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrients and their Classification, Food Science and Principles, Diet Planning and Food Exchange Lists, Advanced Nutrition and Nutritional Assessment, Nutraceuticals and Dietary Supplements, Therapeutic Nutrition and Advanced Diet Planning, Clinical Nutrition and Hospital Diets, Public Health and Community Nutrition and Practitioner Case Studies.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, learners will be able to:
- Conduct comprehensive dietary assessments.
- Apply nutrition therapy to both healthy and diseased populations.
- Utilize scientific research in planning evidence-based diet plans.
- Provide guidance in public health campaigns related to food and diet.
Eligibility
Applicants with CGCE A-Level in Sciences will be preferred. However, Arts/Social Science candidates with experience in nutrition-related programs may be admitted.
Duration and Cost
This Diploma programme in Nutrition and Dietetics is designed for six (06) months and will cost 250,000FCFA. In addition, students will pay 15,000FCFA for registration.

Graduates from this Diploma programme in will be able to serve as Clinical Dietitians/Nutritionists, Public Health Nutritionists, Health and Wellness Consultants, Hospital Nutrition Coordinators, Food Service Managers in major catering services and Community Nutrition Program Officers.
