Background and Objectives
This programme builds on excellent partnership Community Vision Group, Afro-Brit’s flagship organisation and the International Collaboration on Nutrition in Relation to Cancer (ICONIC) and focuses on community nutrition delivery. The programme teaches how to extend nutrition services to underserved populations through education, advocacy, and field engagement and specifically aims to:
- Strengthen community-based interventions against malnutrition.
- Empower trainees to plan, evaluate and implement grassroots nutrition campaigns.
Programme Structure
This programme will comprise of modules like Community Nutrition Fundamentals, Extension Strategy & Impact, Food Security and Sustainable Nutrition, Behavioural Change Communication, Nutrition Programme Planning and Evaluation, Policy Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement and Nutrition Fieldwork and Community Case Studies.
Learning Outcomes
It is expected that by the end of the programme, students will be able to:
- Understand nutrition challenges in rural/low-resource areas.
- Facilitate nutrition education workshops.
- Conduct community nutrition diagnostics and interventions.
- Advocate for public policies supporting food and nutrition security.
Eligibility
As an entry level into this programme, applicants will need to hold CGCE Advanced Level in the Sciences, graduates with science background or healthcare professionals as well as others with significant experience in nutrition-related interventions.
Duration and Cost
This Diploma programme in Nutrition Extension is designed for six (06) months and will cost 250,000FCFA. In addition, students will pay 15,000FCFA for registration.
