Afro-Brit’s BSc in Environment and Sustainable Development programme allows students to study diverse or specialised pathways in human geography, economic geography and environment. It includes a well planned fieldwork as this is very critical for the success of the students. This degree provides a thorough grounding in environmental change and sustainable development, combined with rigorous economics training. The teaching goes far beyond pure academic theory as students will learn why policy issues matter and see first-hand the impact of our research on the real world. There’s also an opportunity to participate in a field trip. In this programme, you will be taught by leading experts who are influencing national government and international policy debates.

The BSc in Environment and Development at Afro-Brit Centre for International Development will run for 3 years for full time and 4 years for part time students.
Year 1
In year one, students will be introduced to key debates in environment and development, exploring the nature, drivers and politics of sustainable and unsustainable development, and provides in-depth understanding of the role various actors and policies can play in addressing environmental challenges in geographical settings.
Year 2
In year two, students will specialise in various aspects of environment and development and will undertake fieldwork major towns and cities in Cameroon, exposing students to issues of food insecurity, poor waste management, water crisis etc will make learning distinctive and catalytic.
Year 3
Students will in the third year undertake a compulsory dissertation which will be blended with intensive field placement with a development agency, institution or company linked to the core thematic areas of the programme.
Graduates from this programme will go on to work in all areas of environmental policy and economics at the local, national and international level, whether in the public sector for government departments and agencies, in the private sector for industry and environmental management consultancies, or in the NGO sector and think tanks. Graduates also have the opportunity to progress to further study at postgraduate level. Above all, when you graduate, you’ll be well prepared for a life transforming career that meaningfully offers value to humanity through environmentally sustainable interventions.
