Background and Objectives

This programme integrates nutrition science with public health principles and practices to address malnutrition, food insecurity, and chronic disease at the population level. The programme seeks to:

  • Build capacity in nutritional surveillance and epidemiology.
  • Equip students with the skills to design, implement, and evaluate public health nutrition programmes.
  • Develop leadership in public health nutrition policy and advocacy.

 

Programme Structure

The programme is comprised of the following core modules: Public Health Nutrition Principles, Nutritional Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Life Cycle Nutrition, Economics of Malnutrition, Community Assessment and Surveillance, National and Global Nutrition Policies, Programme Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation and Case Studies in Public Health Nutrition.

 

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the programme, students are expected to have gained knowledge and skills that will allow them to:

  • Analyse public health nutrition data and trends.
  • Design and assess interventions for malnutrition and obesity.
  • Lead public policy initiatives.
  • Collaborate across sectors for nutrition-sensitive programming.

 

Eligibility

This programme is open to graduates with background in science, health sciences, food and nutrition, or related fields. Also, Afro-Brit Diploma holders in in nutrition related areas will be considered in the programme. 

 

Duration and Cost

This programme is designed for nine (09) months and will cost 300,000FCFA. In addition, students will pay 20,000FCFA for registration.  

 

Career Prospects

Graduates from this programme will be able to access diverse employment opportunities and will have the ability and capacity to function as Public Health Nutritionists, Nutrition Programme Managers in NGOs, Health and Nutrition Policy Analysts, Nutrition Programming Consultants as well as Field Research Coordinators in the area of public health nutrition.
