Background and Objectives
This programme links nutrition education with sustainable community development, empowering professionals to create nutrition-sensitive interventions within development frameworks. Specifically, the programme is designed to empower professionals with the responsibility towards:
- Addressing malnutrition through integrated community approaches.
- Understanding social determinants of nutrition and health.
- Developing strategic leadership in nutrition-focused development initiatives.
Programme Structure
The Advanced Diploma in Nutrition for Community Development will comprise of the following modules: Nutrition and Community Development Fundamentals, Nutritional Needs Assessment in Communities, Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems, Gender and Nutrition, Programme Planning and Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impact Analysis, Community Advocacy and Leadership and Real-world Case Studies and Practicum
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, students will be able to:
- Conduct participatory nutrition assessments.
- Develop community-specific action plans.
- Mobilize communities and lead participatory evaluations.
- Integrate gender, equity, and sustainability in nutrition programs.
Eligibility
This programme is open to graduates with background in science, health sciences, food and nutrition, or related fields. Applicants will social science backgrounds with extended work experience can also postulate for this programme. Also, Afro-Brit Diploma holders in in nutrition related areas will be considered in the programme.
Duration and Cost
This programme is designed for nine (09) months and will cost 300,000FCFA. In addition, students will pay 20,000FCFA for registration.
Career Prospects
This exciting programme will prepare graduates to become Community Development Nutritionists, NGO Programme Directors, Food Security Specialist, Project Managers and Coordinators in Development Agencies as well as Policy Advocates at the Intersection of Health, Gender, and Nutrition.
