Our Mental Health and Wellbeing degree is outlined to give you the knowledge and skills to identify, understand and respond creatively to the various factors that influence mental health and wellbeing.

The BSc in Mental Health and Wellbeing at Afro-Brit Centre for International Development will run for 3 years for full time and 4years for part time students.
The programme will take off with students exposed to foundational courses on Data and Research, Communication and will be blended with a course on Professional Development for Practitioners. In addition to these, the following courses have been structured for the three years of study:
Year 1
The first year of the programme will focus on the following modules: Academic and Professional Skills, Mental Health and Wellbeing in Context, Positive Psychology and Resilience as well as Mental Health, Wellbeing and the Individual. This will allow students to be fully grounded in the theoretical and conceptual aspects of Mental Health.
Year 2
In year two, the students will be equipped with knowledge and skills in Children and Young People’s Mental Health, Adult Mental Health, Mental Health in the Workplace, Skills and Interventions of the Mental Health Practitioner
Year 3
Year three will be characterised by courses like Global Perspectives and Cultural Comparisons, Community Health and Wellbeing in Practice, Mental Health and the Media. In addition to this, students will be placed in partner organisations implementing mental health related programmes and they will also conclude the programme with a Research Project (Health and Social Contexts).
Graduate employment opportunities that might be available to graduates of the programme could include Assistant practitioner, e.g. Occupational Therapy Assistant, Psychosocial Support Officers and Coordinators, Community Development Worker, Healthcare Manager, Health Promotion Specialist, Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service Providers, Primary Care Mental Health Worker and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. Students may also want to progress to postgraduate study to access further careers, e.g. Nursing, Public Health, Social Work, Teaching.
